Starting Overtime on the second row, Johnson quickly worked his way to the front to win his 77th career win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™. Johnson started 19th and led 25 laps. The win was his sixth at the Southern California track and his third in the last eight races, including his second of 2016. He finished 0.772 seconds in front of the runner-up.
